Founded in 1983 by Manny Contompasis, Screen Designs has proudly served New York’s Capital Region for over 40 years from our shop in Colonie.

Our Story: From One Shirt to Thousands
Our journey began in 1978 when Manny Contompasis printed his first T-shirts for the Ellis Hospital softball team while working at the hospital and his cousin’s textile factory. A few years later, while attending SUNY Polytechnic Institute, he produced 400 shirts for a student group—an early sign of the entrepreneurial spirit that would drive Screen Designs forward.
In 1983, we opened our first print shop in Cohoes. As demand grew, we relocated to Schenectady in 1993 and finally to our current, expanded facility in Colonie in 2002. Mary Ellen Contompasis, Manny’s wife, joined the team with a rich background in art and business, bringing experience from Guilford Mills and a creative eye that helped shape our brand’s identity.
What began as a small operation has grown into a thriving business—powered by a passionate, skilled team, many of whom have been with us for decades. Their dedication has helped establish our reputation for reliability, quality, and personalized service.
Today, we operate out of two buildings equipped with cutting-edge printing technology, including 14-color and 10-color automatic presses, a direct-to-screen imaging system, and commercial-grade embroidery and heat transfer machines. Our digital design team ensures every project is optimized and executed with precision, tailored to each client’s unique vision.
